Practice Policies

Appointments & Cancellations: Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a late cancellation fee, which is the full cost of the session. The frequency of follow up appointments is mutually decided with Dr. Volkert and at his discretion.

Communication: Clinical questions or concerns should be addressed during scheduled appointments. Non-urgent messages (via email or portal.) Messages will be answered within 2–3 business days. In emergencies, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

Medication Refills: Medication refills are provided during appointments. If you run out between visits, please request a refill at least 3 business days in advance. Refills will not be provided for patients who have not been seen within the recommended follow-up timeframe. No early refills will be provided for controlled substances under any circumstances- if there are particular conversations regarding this (such as an upcoming vacation) please discuss it with Dr. Volkert. in advance

Payment: This is a private pay practice. Full payment is due at the time of service. Superbills can be provided upon request for out-of-network reimbursement. Accepted forms of payment: credit card, HSA/FSA.

Confidentiality: All communication and treatment are confidential, with exceptions only as required by law (e.g., risk of harm to self or others, child abuse reporting).

Telepsychiatry: Telehealth appointments are available via a secure HIPAA-compliant platform. Patients must be physically located in the state of Pennsylvania at the time of the appointment.
